Def Leppard Kicks Off Summer Tour in Pensacola
Check your blood glucose levels, because Def Leppard is coming to pour some sugar on Pensacola.
The veteran multi-platinum rock band behind hits like "Pour Some Sugar on Me," "Rock of Ages," "Love Bites" and "Photograph" will kick off its North American summer tour with a May 2 stop at the Pensacola Bay Center. The tour supports the long-running band's self-titled 2015 album, which topped the Billboard Rock Albums chart. Among the best-selling acts in the world, Def Leppard claims to have sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and holds diamond certificates for its classic 1980s albums "Hysteria" and "Pyromania," signifying that each has sold more than 10 million copies in the U.S.
Def Leppard's last area appearance was a June 2011 show at the Wharf Amphitheater in Orange Beach, Ala. But it hasn't played Pensacola proper since a memorable 2003 show at the then-Pensacola Civic Center.
Joining Def Leppard for the Pensacola show are fellow multi-platinum rockers Styx, whose long career includes such hits as "Babe," "Come Sail Away," "Too Much Time on My Hands' and "Mr. Roboto." Coincidentally, Styx also played at the Bay Center in 2003, but the band has returned to the area many times since, including stops at the Wharf in 2011 and 2009, and an appearance at the Bay Center in 2007.
